Current behaviour: If I create a work entry from the Bibliographic Entry Manager, and Zotero has the entry listed as Book Section, the work entry has no default Work Type.
Desired behaviour: Works that Zotero lists as Book Section should default to Chapter in Hypernomicon.
What you're saying make sense and I have gone back and forth on this issue. The main reason for having "Chapter" as a distinct work type is to mark that the PDF for the work is actually a book PDF and it goes in the books folder; other than that, for Hypernomicon's purposes, it functionally makes no difference whether it is considered a "chapter" or a "paper". Sometimes the PDF I have for a work is the journal article version or a PDF that includes only the chapter, not the rest of the book (this is especially common for conference proceedings). Then I'll usually have the work type be "paper" even if I have a Zotero entry that treats it as a book section. That was my reasoning, anyway, so I thought it better to ask the user each time rather than default a given option. But maybe it is better to just always set it as "Chapter". Or, again, maybe the behavior should be determined by a setting.
I am implementing the last option I suggested: a setting to determine the default work type when creating a new work for an existing reference manager entry that has an entry type of book chapter, book section, etc. This will be included in the next release following 1.25. To configure it you will open Tools -> Settings, and find the setting in the "Settings applying to this database" section.
