A few questions come to mind...

1.  If you go back into the Monitoring Defaults Configuration screen for the Platform you changed, are the settings showing what you expect (your earlier changes)?

2.  Did you just set the metrics you added to "Default On", or did you also turn each of them on as an "Indicator"?

3.  If you go to the page for one of your newly imported Platforms, and click on the Metric Data tab, is there any indication that your newly specified metrics are being collected (are there values shown for the metrics)?

Collecting metrics does not automatically make them show up as Indicators when you're viewing the Monitor tab for the Platform, however, once you are collecting them, you can easily add them to your views. You can turn selected metrics on as a default Indicators for the Platform in the Monitoring Defaults Configuration.
