Doug, could you post your ptql code as an example for getting the pid? This might help me with the problem that I'm having.

The issues that might be a problem for me are:

1) a short-lived process that might have ended before looking for a pid.
2) a process that takes a long time to startup and checking for the pid too early might miss getting the pid.

Is there a general way to handle the above?
