Hello,
I am seeing a difference between the reporting of the SWAP space for the Solaris 10 OS (on sparc and Intel).
I am trying to understand how to interpret the difference.

I have built an agent to collect OS information from different platforms, and on our Solaris/Sparc platform, I can't get all the iostat information about disks.
I am not sure if this is a limitation because of the Solaris volume manager, or something else....
For example, this is what we get back:

Thank you very much! This solved the problem and now all servers provides equivalent results. Thanks again for this great library, as it is saving me a lot of time to develop and deploy an agent that support Windows XP, 2003, Linux X64, Solaris Sparc, and Solaris Intel! Jean |

Hello, I am starting to deploy my new agent on our production servers, and I found out that SIGAR does not return the memory usage for some processes. This is happening at least on Solaris/Sparc and Solaris/Intel This is how top show process 26694 load averages: 0.57, 0.63, 0.60; up 546+01:29:02 05:49:42 117 processes: 116 sleeping, 1 on cpu CPU states: 99.3% idle, 0.1% user, 0.6% kernel, 0.0% iowait, 0.0% swap Memory: 32G phys mem, 22G free mem, 31G total swap, 31G free swap PID USERNAME LWP PRI NICE SIZE RES STATE TIME CPU COMMAND 26694 prd10 111 59 0 16G 4360M sleep 64:00 0.14% java 7272 dagenaij 1 59 0 3200K 1992K cpu/3 0:01 0.09% top 28040 prd10 39 59 0 904M 239M sleep 1:43 0.04% java This seems to happen to 3 processes out of 120. I have tried adding this to catalina.sh, but still not working... :-(
what I have done is :
1. I installed tomcat 6 using self extractor
2. Tomcat is up and running...
3. Installed windows tomcat service using "service.bat install"
4. I have got service_name as "Tomcat6"
5. Updated catalina.sh configuration as suggested by HQ. Please see attached file.
6. Restarted Agent & tomcat.
Still I see below error :
"The configuration has not been set for this resource due to : Invalid configuration: Error contacting resource: Can't connect to MBeanServer [{jmx.username=system, jmx.url=service:jmx:rmi:///jndi/rmi://localhost:6969/jmxrmi}]: java.io.IOException: Failed to retrieve RMIServer stub: javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException [Root exception is java.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to host: localhost; nested exception is: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect]"
Please any one help me here?

We have a challenge with mapping the file system mount point (e.g. /usr) to the kstat name used to collect the iostats. We use code rather than the actual commands listed below, but the mapping is done like this:
First the device name:
% df /

Gives us the 3 pieces ("sd", 3, "a") needed to get the metrics using the kstat api:

This code was written before opensolaris was available.. I just had a look at how the iostat command maps the kstat name to disk name when you specify the -n switch, it's not pretty.
If anybody knows a simple way to do this mapping, I'd be happy to hear about it!
You can use the device name displayed by iostat (w/o the -n switch), for example 'sd1' with Sigar.getDiskUsage("sd1"). You'll see the same list of names with: kstat -c disk

Not sure what you mean exactly, are you referring to the hypertable code? I wasn't recommending using the hypertable code as-is, just as a reference on howto use sigar_cpu_perc_calculate() |
