request a feature that would allow for immediate confirmation of alert state and then detect alert flapping. That is, if a monitor goes into an alert state, there should be an option to immediately recheck the monitor one or more times for a set interval before actually sending out notifications. The same goes for alert resolution. The purpose of this would be to prevent "blips" from firing notifications, or to prevent alerts resetting themselves if the checked condition is not consistently up and cleared. Finally, there should be some detection of alert "flapping", that is when an alert goes in and out of an alert state repeatedly over a given interval. The handling of flapping should be customizable, such as to notify whether flapping is occurring that supersedes other alert states or to hold the alert in an up or down state for a customizable interval before trying to set its state again. This is something Nagios does and really should be incorporated into the HQ model along with some of my other suggestions, such as having an alert "nag until acknowledged" feature.
