RabbitMQ plugin - cannot run 4.5.0 agent plugin with 4.5.1 server; Invalid configuration: Plugin error: This resource requires the node name of the broker..

When trying to monitor RabbitMQ with a Hyperic 4.5.0 agent connecting to a Hyperic 4.5.1 server, the configuration cannot be completed. Attempting to save the configuration properties results with the message:

The configuration has not been set for this resource due to : Invalid configuration: Plugin error: This resource requires the node name of the broker.

The configuration properties have been changed in 4.5.1 from the earlier 4.5.0 release.

There were no errors specified in the agent.log file.

Expected Result:


Agents and plugins are backward compatible

Actual Result:


There is no backward compatibility when using the RabbitMQ plugin; a 4.5.0 agent is not possible to use with a 4.5.1 server.

Steps to Reproduce:


1. Install and run a 4.5.1 Hyperic server


2. Install a 4.5.0 agent on a platform running RabbitMQ


3. Log into Hyperic


4. Add the platform (steps 2) to inventory from auto-discovery


5. Select the RabbitMQ server


6. Go to Configuration Properties and set required configuration properties (rabbit node)


7. Click the Ok button to save configuration properties


8. Note the changes are not saved and the reported error is received.

Additional Information:


This also affects upgradability for the RabbitMQ plugin; will it be required to install as new or should an upgrade be possible?
