Sebastian,
I understand that I'm the last person who is/was working on the project.
So it's natural if I take care (pay) of the domain; I can do it, if you 
like.

Another option is to use hypercup.corrib.deri.ie or corrib.deri.ie/hypercup
or something like this to avoid such problems in the future.
Perhaps, it's a good idea to use the same pattern for other projects.
