I've certainly come across the same issue here a few time. What I've found (this is in 1.4) is that I can type in <tag> , process changes, save and build. This works fine and goes onto the site. The issue occurs when you go back into the content to edit it. So as a last resort, a couple of time I've just pasted the code in last of all. Which is fine, unless you actually want to edit the page!
