I noticed that when I am logged in as ADMIN everything works 10 times 
faster than normal users.

I regularly delete all the workflow-data folders, because they seem 
pretty unstable, and everyonce in a while some store is stuck, and the 
workflows don't work. I don't notice significant performance improvement 
after this.
