Tried to dl and install latest /Hydrogen/1.2.4 Binaries/Hydrogen-1.2.4-win64.exe
but windows defender smartscreen refuses to launch it
any idéeas what's wrong ?
thanks @thegreatwshark yes I know I can turn of defender and force install hydrogen but my main question was more: what is the reason for what defender refuses to let me install it ? I didn't had this pb with previosu versions... was wondering if something changed in the code or what ? To resume is it safe I force install of is there a hidden malware or any other pb...

To build those Windows binaries we do use (since around version 1.0.0) Appveyor and install further dependencies provided by MSYS2 (details can be found in here).
So, what did change with respect to previous releases are the versions of the underlying dependencies. We do not physically control this build infrastructure, but I would consider it highly unlikely that someone tempered it in order to distributed malware.

Maybe you should investigate on this windows pb, many windows users will not install latest v if defender say they shoulbn't (?)
Investigating Windows issues is a bit hard for me right now. I had an old Windows tower for debugging. But an automatic OS update killed the machine (probably some bad graphic card firmware; I can't even go into bios anymore). That's why I'm very reluctant right now to get myself a replacement device for debugging. Maybe Windows will brick that one too in no time. But I'll see what I can do.

Sounds like your OS prevents you from installing unsigned applications. In macOS one can make temporary exceptions to accomplish the installation. In Windows this is probably possible too. I tried and Hydrogen-1.2.3-win64.exe install perfectly (at least I can run the installer and it told me its' already installed...)
