Installing the HydraIRC

Hydra IRC builds that are provided here under the code FINAL are all portable releases. You dont need to install HydraIRC to use it. Anyways; an install program will be included in the future. (you can use older Hydra IRC if you absolutely need an installer).

Simply; unzip your downloaded version in a folder and double-click on HydraIRC.exe to start the application.

System Requirements:

OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 Supported (you should be able to use it on older versions of Windows too)

CPU/RAM/etc.: If your PC can actually boot windows it WILL run Hydra IRC under heavy usage.

Use on non-Windows operating systems:

HydraIRC is tested against WINE on linux. You should be able to use it on other Unix-like operating systems with WINE too.

Create an IRC username

(Screen shots will be added soon)

After HydraIRC has been installed on your machine and started, a preferences window appears.

Here you enter some basic information that others on IRC can use to identify you.

See this (Screenshot) on settings to enter. Confusingly, you must add a Nick in the box and click “Add” before the “OK” button becomes push-able.

Click OK.

Your selected identity now appears in the large user identities box. (Screenshot)

Click OK. The preference window closes.

Connect to IRC

Now that your identity has been set up, click the “New Server” button.

The “New Server” button is the button with a blue power cord. Found on the far left side on the menu bar, right below “file”.

A new window “connect” appears, Choose which server you want. Then click “Okay”. Don't worry about entering anything in the boxes.

You are now connected.

Troubleshooting

You can return to the identities editing screen by selecting Options » Prefs…

In the preferences box, select User Identities from the top of the list on the left.

Additionally, you will be taken to the preferences box if you try and connect to a server and you do not have any identities configured yet.
