#51 Rebuild deletes database

Hi,
I use HTTP to download my Hotmail mail. Recently,
someone managed to get onto my hotmail account and
delete all my messages. I wasn't too worried, cause I
had them all backed up on my Mac Mail program as http
mail had downloaded them all. This morning I clicked
the Rebuild button on mac mail and to my dismay found
it deleted all the old mail that had been deleted from
hotmail and re-sync'ing with what was in Hotmails
account. Is there any way I can get this back? Mail
doesn't seem to have put the old messages in trash, but
just re-built the database. Is there any backup
database that is created?!?
