I've applied your patch - thanks.

I made a couple of minor changes like adding the final keyword in a 
couple of places and adding an author tag for you.

Is it safe to assume that 160 is always a non-breakable space?  I know 
that some encodings don't use 160 (I've been burned by that on some unix 
machines) but by the time the string has been converted into unicode 
within java, this may have already been adjusted.
