Sometime on Aug 9, Sam Tregar assembled some asciibets to say: > I'd previously thought that Bricolage was the only CMS supporting > HTML::Template (not including blogging tools). Only just been released to the world: http://www.ncst.ernet.in/vidyakash/vasistha/demo/ description at http://www.ncst.ernet.in/vidyakash/project-vasistha.shtml Don't know if it qualifies as a complete CMS though. Hey all. Is there anyone on the list with experience using or developing WebGUI (http://www.plainblack.com/webgui)? The marketing materials lead me to believe it is a CMS with some application server capabilities. It seems to use HTML::Template as its primary templating mechanism, and includes HTML::Template 2.6 in the source package. I'd previously thought that Bricolage was the only CMS supporting HTML::Template (not including blogging tools). Are there more out there? -sam |

Hi all. I'm pleased to announce the release of the first stable version of MasonX::Request::HTMLTemplate ver. 0.04. This module tries to add two peculiar functionalities to Mason: - easy use of templates (inherits HTML::Template); - easy building of localized web site;=20 to produce a framework with all power of Mason but by separating = completely=20 the script language from the graphical interface language.=20 This distribution contains two modules: MX:Re:HTMLTemplate and MX::Re::HT::WithApacheSession.=20 The first inherits directly Mason Request while the other inherits=20 MX::Re::WithApacheSession to use session in your web sites and = templates. Documentation is completed and contains many examples of how to use = these=20 modules This distribution is available through a CPAN mirror or at http://search.cpan.org/author/EBRUNI/MasonX-Request-HTMLTemplate-0.04/ Changes: 00.04 (2003-08-04) =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D - Fix a bug in WithApacheSession that cause problems when using session. - Add LICENSE to distribution. 00.03 (2003-08-02) =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D - Added many examples in documentation. Moreover it has been fixed in = some=20 points. - MasonX::Request::WithApacheSession is not required anymore to use this module. Removed from required modules. - Fixed a bug in items method that it tried to use session also if there = was no=B6 session module available. - Test file was wrong. Created now tests for HTMLTemplate and=20 WithApacheSession - Created manual for WithApacheSession - Completed separation of code between HTMLTemplate and = WithApacheSession. Now all code, necessary in order to use session variables, is placed in=20 WithApacheSession. - Use of module "base" instead of directly use of @ISA. =20 00.02 (2003-07-30) =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D - Added more examples and synopsis to pod files. - MasonX::Request::HTMLTemplate now inherits only HTML::Mason::ApacheHandler, HTML::Mason::Request, HTML::Mason::CGIHandler. To use sessions and=20 have an object that inherits from MasonX::Request::WithApacheSession use the new module MasonX::Request::HTMLTemplate::WithApacheSession. - template_base_path and default_language initialize parameters are now optional. The default value for the first is 'undef' that is template_base_path it coincides with Mason component root directory. The default value for the other is 'en'. 00.01 (2003-07-29) =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D - original version Bye ------------------------------------------------------------ + Dott. Others will tell you that the threaded environment isn't ready for production but I have yet to run into a conflict. If you're running RedHat 9.0 your perl is already set up for a threaded mod_perl. Other than that you really don't have to have MP2 in threaded mode as there are others as well. I just chose to jump in to the deep end. I've compiled PHP for Apache 2 but I haven't gotten around to playing with it yet. Jamie Krasnoo |

A quick search of the archives reveals this message I had posted sometime back. http://bluedot.net/mail/archive/read.php?f=9&i=3325&t=3320 To summarize -- 1. Get DBI (the interface) and the DBD (driver specific to your database) of your choice working. 2. Query the database using fetchall_arrayref(). This returns an array of hashes. Each element in the array is a row in your result set, and each hash in that row is a database field with its corresponding value. for example -- # a handler with your sql my $sth = $dbh->prepare("SELECT user_id, fname, lname, email FROM users"); # execute the handler $sth->execute; # a reference to the array of results my $tbl_ary_ref = $sth->fetchall_arrayref({}); # cleanup $sth->finish; $dbh->disconnect; # assign the reference to the results to a h::t var called results $template->param(results => $tbl_ary_ref); 3. In your template you need to set up a <tmpl_loop> like so -- <table> <tr><th>Full Name</th><th>Email</th></tr> <!-- loop over results --> <tmpl_loop results> <!-- print out the values for each row --> <form action="index.cgi" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="user_id" value="<tmpl_var user_id>"> <tr> <td><tmpl_var fname> <tmpl_var lname></td> <td><tmpl_var email></td> <td><input type="submit" value="edit"></td> </tr> </form> </tmpl_loop> </table> The above html will create a table with one user's info per row alongwith an edit button. Clicking the edit button will submit the form with a hidden field containing that user's user_id. You can then use that user_id to do further processing like editing user info, etc. But, this should give you the general idea. |

A large number of weeks ago I asked about a guide for web developers/designers using H::T. The response at the time was "I don't believe there is, but it sounds like a good idea. Maybe you'd like to write one? " Life got in the way for a while, but I finally got around to accepting the challenge. I've passed it around the (perl) developers and web designers in my office, and the webbies have actually said it helped them, so I'm sharing the URL with the H::T list in the hope that others out there may find it useful too: http://www.herlpacker.co.uk/articles/ It's quite easy to find, it's the "HTML::Template for Web Designers" article and is currently the only article there. Greetings, I've been a long time fan and user of HTML::Template, but this is the first time I've tried to do this particular thing. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've been looking at this but I think I need another pair of eyes to point out my error (probably something dumb). I've read past messages about filling in an HTML select form, coded it, and it *almost* seems to work, but its not putting the 'selected' token in there! Any help would be appreciated. [FYI: It's purpose is a question/answer confirmation for someone who forgets their password. Thus the 'pwq' below is short for 'PassWord Question', if you're wondering. There are other fields on the form, but those all work fine.] Here's my HTML (everything between <option></option> is actually on one line, just indented here for readability): <select name="pwq"> <tmpl_loop name="htmlselect"> <option value="<tmpl_var name='selectcode'>" <tmpl_if name='isSel'> selected</tmpl_if>> <tmpl_var name='selectdesc'></option> </tmpl_loop> </select> ..then my code has the fill routine like so (some more fluff removed for readability, but this is the meat of it): sub FillForm { my $tmplref = shift; # Reference to the HTML::Template my $formref = shift; # Reference to the form data hash my $useropt = $$formref{'pwq'}; # User selection ('06' for this example) Log("FillForm(useropt=$useropt)") if $debug; my %options; my @htmlselect = (); my $pwqref = getPWQhash(); # Build hash of code=>text data from a file foreach (sort keys %{$pwqref}) { my $sel = ( $_ eq $useropt ? 1 : 0 ); my %row = ('selectcode' => $_, 'selectdesc' => $$pwqref{$_}, 'isSel' => $sel); push @htmlselect, \%row; Log(" C=$_, D=$$pwqref{$_}, SEL=$sel") if $debug; } $tmplref->param('htmlselect' => \@htmlselect); } ...and in my log file (from the Log() functions above) is shows that the sixth option is being identified as the one selected (which I did), but for some reason that doesn't get translated to the HTML code: FillForm(useropt=06) C=00, D=(sometext00), SEL=0 C=01, D=(sometext01), SEL=0 C=02, D=(sometext02), SEL=0 C=03, D=(sometext03), SEL=0 C=04, D=(sometext04), SEL=0 C=05, D=(sometext05), SEL=0 C=06, D=(sometext06), SEL=1 <--- Var is set to 1 C=07, D=(sometext07), SEL=0 C=08, D=(sometext08), SEL=0 C=09, D=(sometext09), SEL=0 C=10, D=(sometext10), SEL=0 However, the result is just as if it was a blank form, with no 'selected' token in the select list. Doing a View Source just looks like: <select name="pwq"> <option value="00">(sometext00)</option> <option value="01">(sometext01)</option> <option value="02">(sometext02)</option> <option value="03">(sometext03)</option> <option value="04">(sometext04)</option> <option value="05">(sometext05)</option> <option value="06">(sometext06)</option> ('selected' should be here?!?!) <option value="07">(sometext07)</option> <option value="08">(sometext08)</option> <option value="09">(sometext09)</option> <option value="10">(sometext10)</option> </select> Thanks and first round on me for whoever helps point out my problem. :) Robert |

I'm on html-template-users and mason-devel, and never saw it. Must've gone to mason-users or something (I'm not on that list). Regards, David -- David Wheeler AIM: dwTheory da...@ki...
