I wouldn't focus on the contrib/ or htdoc/ changes. Obviously these need 
to be made, but especially in the case of htdoc/ some changes are 
sync'ed at the very end. (FAQ.html comes to mind.)

The changes to Makefile.in files don't really apply since everything is 
generated by automake now.

I'll take a look at the various configure.in changes.
