hi all, we installed htdig to index our intranet. os ist suse linux 8.1. some things doesn't work the way we like: 1. we tried to index a server, let's call him http://my.server.live/ . tehre is no index.html, start.html or something like this, all files are name like '010103myfile.html'. htdig doesn't index anything. indexing an identical mirror of my.server.live works. the only difference between the 2 servers: on my.server.live is directory listing forbidden, on the mirror it's allowed. 2. if we have more than 100 results, htsearch displays only the first 10 pages each containing 10 results. i've found no way to jump to the following 11. page. 3. rundig stops with an errormessage: '/usr/bin/rundig: line 53: 16981 Aborted $BINDIR/htnotify $opts'. any ideas? thnx in advance lorenz |

Just to add to what others have written... According to Lammersdorf, Lorenz: > 1. we tried to index a server, let's call him http://my.server.live/ . tehre > is no index.html, start.html or something like this, all files are name like > '010103myfile.html'. htdig doesn't index anything. indexing an identical > mirror of my.server.live works. the only difference between the 2 servers: > on my.server.live is directory listing forbidden, on the mirror it's > allowed. See http://www.htdig.org/FAQ.html#q5.25 which probably explains the situation better than 4.23. > 2. if we have more than 100 results, htsearch displays only the first 10 > pages each containing 10 results. i've found no way to jump to the following > 11. page. This is also covered in more detail in http://www.htdig.org/FAQ.html#q4.19 > 3. rundig stops with an errormessage: '/usr/bin/rundig: line 53: 16981 > Aborted $BINDIR/htnotify $opts'. > > any ideas? Well, if this only happens on the site where nothing is indexed, that might be the problem, though it would be nice if htnotify handled this situation more gracefully. If it still happens when something is indexed, try running htnotify from the command line with -vvv to see if you get some indication of what's happening when it aborts. -- Gilles R.
