#134 sorting by time/date problem

we have a big problem with the results of htsearch. After
setting the last modified date, files with a date in the
future will not be sorted by date at all. Only files with a
date in the present or the past are sorted by date. Now,
we want to know how to sort by date including all files
wether they are, after touching the files, in present, past
or future. All files are in the same directory.

    I'm not sure why this problem deserves "Highest" priority.
    I've dropped it back to Medium.

    Secondly, it would be most helpful if you reported which
    version of htsearch you are using (see FAQ 5.33), and
    which system you're running it on. This is a rather bizarre
    problem that I'm at a loss to explain. Sorting by time is done
    by simple comparison of time_t values (32 bit integers
    representing seconds since Jan 1, 1970), without any
    "knowledge" of which dates are past and which are

    I suspect rather that it might be a problem with parsing
    of date headers, which is why the version number matters.
    It might also be helpful if you included an excerpt of htdig
    -vvvv output showing the headers htdig receives and
    parses while fetching a document with a date in the
