I did some more testing today, and here's what I found:

- The T series still doesn't work.  :-(  I'll keep working on it.
- The 500 series scans in grayscale with a command line such as:
	ptal-hp mlc:par:0 scan -gray -raw -res 300
The "-raw" switch turns off the default of JPEG, which isn't yet handled
properly for the 500 series.  The "-res 300" switch seems to be required to
prevent the device from hanging with a "SYSTEM ERROR" message.

I haven't tried the 600 or PSC300 series yet, but Joe said it works on his
600 (other than the issues I've already mentioned with some improper JPEG
handling).
