At the moment, as you observed, only direct-parallel and network-JetDirect connections are supported. I'm working on USB support, but it's nowhere near ready to release. In any case, there's no way to access any of the non-printing (i.e. scanning) functionality over the network when the G85 is connected to a Windows machine, which I think is what you were asking about. The best way to be able to access your G85 from both the Windows and the Linux machine(s) would be to get a JetDirect (70X, 170X, 300X, or 500X with firmware x.08.xx or later). Alternatively, if you only cared about printing from Windows, then you could just move the connection over to the Linux box (parallel only for now), and configure Samba to share the printer over the network for the sake of the Windows box. Note that even though the G85 has both parallel and USB connections, it doesn't support hot-swapping between them, so you have to power cycle the device whenever you change which I/O port it's connected to.
