Hi again: I think I am at the end of the configuration- installation of this OfficeJet driver. However I need your help. 1. I checked the following in the step "Loading the parallel port drivers (notes and troubleshooting": # cat ../ANNOUNCE | /opt/hpoj-0.6/scripts/addcr > /dev/lp0 and the printer exhibited the "stair-step" effect. Is it a normal situation? (The Install notes say that "addcr" script may help). 2. I wrote the following command: # /usr/local/bin/hpo get OID_CFG_STATUS and I received the message: Error while executing request: 0x83 <Error Unknown Object Identifier> Then, I asked some help to the computer: # hpo --help and it said: get <object id> What was the correspondig id? 3. I read the mail: "Printing in RedHat Was..." written by Joe Piolunek, because I installed RedHat in my computer. I achieved all the steps, except the following instructions: #!/bin/sh The computer answer: bash: !/bin/sh: event not found Also I tried: # sh filename: /var/spool/lpd/HPOJ_DRV/wrapfilter and I received another error message. Note: I know the "!" character is employed to use a command again with a specific model. I suppose these 2 comands QUEUEDIR=.... IEEE12844DIR=.... must be written inside the file wrapfilter. Is it correct? May I use vi? Where do I write the last command: ${QUEUEDIR}/filter...? Really, sorry for this last question, but remember I am a beginning with Linux and Unix. Thanks in advanced.
