Sorry, I forgot to address this paragraph.  That's strange that printing
works but scanning doesn't.  Are you sure you aren't printing through
/dev/lp0 instead of ieee12844_print (or ptal-print)?

USB isn't supported at the moment, but I'm looking into it.
