Hi, Heath. What kernel version are you running, and what kind of machine are you running this on? There are known bugs with kernel 2.3/2.4 and with SMP machines, which are being worked on. There is another bug that in some cases causes an individual process (for example, SANE) to lock up, but not the whole computer, so that may not be what's happening to you. Some people have reported an easier time reproducing this problem than others. Hang in there; we're working on it. :-) In the meantime, if you happen to have a JetDirect 70X, 170X, 300X, or 500X handy you could put your PSC 500 on that, because that connection method bypasses the kernel-mode drivers that have the above-mentioned bugs.
