I have no experience with apsfilter or a2ps, but maybe someone here who does
could help you.

It would be helpful if you could post back giving some extra information such as
your operating system type and version, and whether or not your printer daemon
is running.

If you are using lpd, find it this way:

]$ pidof lpd

Do you see any error messages at boot? If so, write them down exactly.

Someone will probably be able to help you (at least they'll try), but they seem
to have been very busy lately.
