Hi, everyone. (Sorry about the duplicate messages some of you are receiving.) I'm pleased to announce that version 0.91 of the HP OfficeJet Linux driver is now available at http://hpoj.sourceforge.net. Major changes include the following: - Enhanced USB support for the latest HP OfficeJet, PSC, and PhotoSmart printer models (using libusb). - Improved parallel-port performance (ECP hardware-assisted transfers). - Numerous bug fixes and documentation updates. At the same time, I'm also sad to announce that, due to HP organizational changes and management decisions beyond my control, I am no longer able to maintain, support, or otherwise contribute to the hpoj project. The people who bring you the hpijs print driver are now officially responsible for development and support of hpoj-related functionality. I'd like to welcome Dave, Don, Cory, and Shiyun onto the scene and wish them all the best of luck in their newly-expanded roles. Please continue to post any questions, problem reports, and other feedback to the hpoj-devel mailing list, unless you later hear otherwise. Finally, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your kind support of my efforts regarding the hpoj project over the last four years. (Thanks also to Mark Horn and Joe Piolunek for their ptal-cups and xojpanel contributions.) It has truly been a pleasure working with all of you, and your feedback has been extremely valuable in making the hpoj software what it is today. I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to work on a project like this, and perhaps we will meet again someday in a different capacity. David Paschal November 5, 2003 |
