I have used hpijs with ghostscript to print. If I print to a file "prn" & then send the print file directly to the printer cat prn > /dev/usb/lp0 I find that that host-based preparation time is only about 10% of the time to print a page. So it does not seem to be the case that cpu processing is the dominant factor. Clearly, either HP or Microsoft, has some algorithm that they will not reveal to the Linux community. Would an all-in-one, such as the PSC2355, perform like the WinXP driver? That printer is PCL3 based instead of LIDL for the 1100/1200/1300 series. |
