After installing the driver, I ran the "Testing basic device connectivity" section of Setting up basic device connectivity <http://hpoj.sourceforge.net/hpoj-0.91/doc/setup-connect.html>. This verified the functional aspect of the USB --> printer connection. Contrary to what the HPOJ doc recommended, I used the Mandrake printer setup tool instead of the CUPS WWW tool to setup my printer queues. Every time I used the CUPS tool, I got zip, nothing. I found myself completely confused as to what needed to be done with CUPS WWW to setup the printer, the printer drake made it easy. BTW, the printers have been installed and running fine for about 4 months now. Prior to that, they would run a few days and mysteriously go offline!
