The printer printed out the alignment page when I set it up and it printed =
out=20
a report I set up through the controls on the system, so I know the printer=
=20
itself works. =A0Could it be a problem with a faulty printer -- at least in=

work (neither does ptal-print) indicate anything about faulty communication=
s?

I've changed the loglevel in Cups to debug.  It looks like Cups uses=20
ptal-print to talk to the printer (at least at one point).  Is this the=20
actual print command?  It seems to me I could cut out extra factors if I kn=
ew=20
the actual commands CUPS uses to send a command to the printer and knew wha=
t=20
to make of the returned errors.
