Hi
I had the same problem and solved it as follows:
1) remove all printers from cups
2) shut down cups
3) run ptal-init setup and follow the instructions
4) restart cups
5) go to localhost:631 with konqueror (this is the CUPS admin location)
and choose "install new printer"
6) when queried for the source, your printer should appear under ptal devie
WITH its name ! Do not select USB or parallel, but the ptal device
7) select the model etc
done.
good luck
