Hi, I recently bought a new HP PSC 1350 to use it under linux, with
hpoj. Printing works, scanning works perfecctly, and of course
standalone copying works. Photo card access works with only minor
glitches using the standard USB mass-storage driver in the kernel and
standalone photo testpage/etc printing works.
BUT the printing, at anything else than draft, is extremely slow.
Draft works ok, but high quality prints at something like 1 sweep
every 8 seconds. Yes, 1 sweep every 8 seconds. Clearly the data
transmission is the culprit, since the first 3 sweeps are printed at
normal speed presumably due to the buffering during the page load. I
use libusb with ptal, etc, since the kernel driver didn't recognize
the printer. (These LIDIL based ones don't work with the kernel print
driver, don't they?) The problem is that printing is very slow, and
it's not a CPU problem: usage doesn't increase nowhere near 100%
during printing.
This is my /proc/bus/usb/devices part for the printer (during printing):

AFAIK no other USB device is using the bus. I have a USB hub in
between, since the cable was too short to go behind the desk. Removing
it caused no difference, though.
Any ideas?
