Hi, James. If you're using xsane, then you can click off the "RGB Default"
button (the first of six buttons just above the "Start" button. That allows
you to individually adjust the gamma, brightness, and contrast for each
color component. Alternatively, if you have already scanned your pictures,
then I'm sure you can make adjustments in Gimp.
