Installed program for HP Scanjet 3900 on Ubuntu version 9.10. Thereafter, Ubuntu hangs at startup on "loading hardware drivers", eventually showing a message about going to /etc/udev/rules.d/025_hp3900.rules. Ubuntu does not boot correctly in Gnome after that. What to do?

Try to delete /etc/udev/rules.d/025_hp3900.rules

Make sure the NAME attribute points to a valid folder: add "/dev" !
