Thanks for the reply. I have read "Indexing Your Web Site. I am able to run "appletviewer indexsetup.html" and i am able to search the site, but this is not able to save the HouseSpider.index and HouseSpider.log files. I am not able to understand where should i give the permission.i.e., "grant { ....}; I am running on XP.

Then you haven't read the page. There is a link called "default location of the policy file" - follow it. (I guess on WinXP ${user.home} is "C:\Documents and Settings\Username".)
You didn't give me more info - just your OS. What about error messages and debug messages? In addition, it doesn't sound as you still have searched the forums - this has been discussed so many times.
Why should I help you when you don't care to follow my advice carefully?

This time i have used policytool and granted the permission of the java.policy file. when i run appletviewer and in the inbox when i type houseindes i am getting the following error "Security exception. Could not write HouseSpider.index. Set your browser's
java security options to allow local applets to access the file system.
Search finished."

Finally i got the solution to create the index file. First I stopped my website. opened the applet using appletviewer, then i restarted the website and them i typed in "houseindex" and then it was able to create my index and log file.

Hi I am not able to create/save the housespider.indes or housespider.log file even i have given SaveDir path.
It doesn't sound like you have read "Indexing Your Web Site" on
http://housespider.sourceforge.net/doc/ver44/
Please read it again, search the forums/mailing list at http://housespider.sourceforge.net/#details
and the ask again (with much more info) if you haven't solved the problem.
