This build resolves a bug in which files would be extended beyond their actual length. HourMan can now, in effect, be used as a simple text editor. You might want to wait until next version's improvements on the save functionality, though.
Also, this is the day for counting. See? 3-4-5 . . . :)
New! Improved! Now with comments!
Yep, I added support for comments. Use a single quote ' to comment out a line or the rightmost portion thereof, like so:
3 hours Work ' Friday afternoon
And once again, I forgot to change the version/build number within the actual program. Sorry :-}
Next up? I'm trying to add more documentation. Those who download the source zipfile will notice the included readme.txt - I'm also planning to add some in-program help so people don't have any excuses. ;)
After quite a long time (nearly 2 years, I think), HourMan 2003 has reached its 1.0 release. To recap, here is what HourMan can do:
+ Read natural language time record input (English only for now)
+ Sum times in a list
+ Average those same times
For more information . . . download it and see what it can do!
Things are slowly progressing as I get around to working on them. Multiple subjects will be done through a custom "stringExp" (string expression) class and some custom functions that can handle words in the same fashion as command-line switches.
As a side note, it looks like some people have downloaded the source package as well. If you've added features to HourMan 2003, altered it to suit your own use, or whatever, I'm interested! Let me know at: grayman3@users.sourceforge.net
You won't actually see 0.9.16 in the program because I forgot to increment the version number, but I may fix that soon.
In the meantime, I've already fixed the file handling mechanism . . . so your files can be free from copy/paste madness!
New feature in this release: you can now open files through File->Open. Version 0.9.16 will feature Save and New enabled, and then . . . on to 1.0, I guess.
Here are my goals for the 1.0 release:
o Save/Open files
o Support for different time formats (non-time formats, too?)
x Empty subjects
x Averaging
x Keyboard shortcuts working
The items with x's beside them are completed, so things are progressing. By the way, if you use HourMan 2003, go ahead and let me know:

This new release of HourMan 2003 adds support for empty subjects (simple lists), improves security, and adds keyboard shortcuts.
Build 04082003 (Version 0.2) Has been released. This version fixes the problem of incorrect numbers being displayed, as well as the problem of subjects being mangled. Support for multiple subjects has been added, which threw off my compiler. As a result, the program has space for multiple subjects, but doesn't recognize more than one. Sorry. It should be fixed in the next build, by the end of the week if you're lucky.
Build 04032003 (Version 0.1) now works when you click the 'Calculate' button, however it often reports incorrect numbers. I will be working on this and should have a new build out by the end of next week, if not by the end of this week.
The March 28, 2003 build has been uploaded.
The source .zip is the most useful package; no functionality has been implemented yet, so the binary only shows how it will look.
