    Sai Duan - 2008-07-05

    I think I have correctly compiled the hotwayd from the source.
    $ /usr/local/sbin/hotwayd
    +OK POP3 hotwayd v0.8.4 -> The POP3-HTTPMail Gateway. Server on Raman-HP01 active.
    quit
    +OK see you later!

    My server is CentOS
    $ uname -a
    Linux Raman-HP01 2.6.9-42.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Jul 12 23:32:02 EDT 2006 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

    I also created the hotwayd in /etc/xinetd.d/
    $ vi /etc/xinetd.d/hotwayd
    service hotwayd
    {
            #only_from      =192.168.0.0/24 #for gentoo security?
            disable         = no
            type            = unlisted
            socket_type     = stream
            protocol        = tcp
            wait            = no
            user            = root
            groups          = yes
            #groups = Nobody
            server          = /usr/local/sbin/hotwayd #must be full path!
            #server_args = -p http://proxy:8080 -u proxy_user -q
            #proxy_password
            port            = 110
    }

    The xinetd have been restart by
    # /etc/init.d/xinetd restart
    Stopping xinetd:                                           [  OK  ]
    Starting xinetd:                                           [  OK  ]

    But, I still can't connect to the 110 port.
    # netstat -lp

      Hi,

      I think you need to remove the commment " #must be full path!".

      Regards,
      /Jonas

      Thanks for your reply. It works in my server.
      I can telnet from other address
      $ telnet **.**.**.** 110
      Trying **.**.**.**...
      Connected to **.**.**.** (**.**.**.**).

      Connection closed by foreign host.

      I think it is done for my install of hotwayd
      But I have another problem by using gmail to read my hotmail's email.
      When i using the **.**.**.** as pop3 to read the hotmail in my gmail
      a error happened as:

      There was a problem connecting to **.**.**.**
      Please contact Microsoft's support team for more information on POP access.
      Show error details Server returned error: "Connection timed out: There may be a problem with the settings you added. Please contact your other email provider to verify the correct server name and port."
