YFi Hotspot Manager

Introduction

YFi Hotspot Manager is the codename for the new version of Hotcakes Hotspot Manager.
It is an almost total rewrite, using new technologies and a different approach.
Those dedicated Hotcakes users, I hope this new improvements will make deploying and maintaining a RADIUS user database a pleasant experience.
To people new to Hotcakes, this version is striving to be the natural choice as a voucher and user management system.

Whats New?

Well almost everything was recreated.
The following is a terse list of the current improvements and features as of this writing.
There is still some serious development happening, so the list will grow.

• New Interface - Using the Dojo toolkit to create a RIA (Rich Internet Application).

The Viewer component now lives in the browser, with JSON data and Javascript used to populate the GUI. The Back-end uses the version 1.2 of Cake PHP.

• Improved rights management - Now the administrator can specify individual rights per Access Provider
• Scalability - The new design is aimed at large deployments.
• Improved Voucher management - Vouchers are linked to a profile and features a time that it will be valid from first log-on and also an expiry date.

This makes it ideal to create a stack of vouchers that will only activate upon first log-on.

• Create batches of vouchers and keep track of them.
• Improved PDF generation - PDF formats for popular Avely labels.
• CSV output for selected batches or vouchers.
• Individual Attributes can be added per Voucher which will override / compliment profile attributes.

There are by default three users

Admin

This is the powerfull user who can add and modify Access Providers
Username: root
Password: admin

Access Provider

This will typically be the receptionist at the Hotel. They gets assigned to one or more realms. Their rights can also be tweaked IE to prevent them from deleting Vouchers.
On this demo site is an Access Provider
Username: ap
Password: ap
Logging in as an Access Provider will automatically change the GUI to reflect only the rights assigned to the Access Provider.

Permanent User

This is a permanent user which will be billed, one who can get extra data and/or time and who's account will reset each month on a date you specify

Logging in as a Permanent User will automatically change the GUI to reflect the Permanent User.

Feedback

Feedback are like always welcome. I may not always be that responsive since the writing new code along with family takes quite a chunk out of the day, but they still are most welcome!
Please make use of this forum instead of the one at cakeforge, since Sourceforge offer better hosting facilities, I'll be using Sourceforge rather.

Updates will happen ad-hock, but I will post on the forum when new features has been added / bugs has been fixed.
