Bypass the DNS without 'sudo vi /etc/hosts'. hostmixer sits between the files
and dns entries in nsswitch. It gives you the ability to resolve hostnames to
different IP addresses allowing easy switching between development and
production machines.

hostmixer is a hobby-programming project written with a dual purpose:

1. To provide a useful application
   The end product should provide a simple mechanism to override hostname
resolution that is simpler to manage than 'sudo vi /etc/hosts'.

2. To explore and develop myself in the following disciplines:
 * C++
   * class abstraction
   * exception handling
   * library development
 * *nix environment
   * nsswitch
   * gtk
   * ncurses
 * dev tools
   * automake / autoconf
   * git
 * Community Focus
   * sourceforge
   * explore different levels of GPL and shoose the appropriate one for this
     context, correctly acknoledging any derived work.
 * Robustness
   * security concious
   * unit testing
 * Documentation
   * Clean coding style with comments
   * doxygen
   * latex

Sat, 21 May 2011 15:52:10 +1000 - Not the end of the world, but the start of a
  new project.

To start with - I am an evangelical Christian who believes that Jesus Christ
will return one day. However, I do not subscribe to people who put dibs on the
event. The Bible is clear that no one, God excepted, knows when.

Therefore, As a polemic against FamilyRadio.com, who believe that Christ will
come back in a little over 2 hours time, I have started this new project that
will take me a little longer than 2 hours.
