Object type are nor available

I just installed the server and the client in the same computer (OS = Windows XP)
All the menu in the client are available.
From the program setup, I installed packages (most of it). The list of package is not empty.
From the client program, I have no object type available.
Hi Charles:
Not all packages have object types in them - you need to install:
'Basic Device Support" (device), 'Persons..", "System", "Weather", or "Sunrise" (misc)
to see any device types. In fact, if you want to create X10 object types, you also need to install
"Serial Comm Support" and "X10 Devices" to get actual X10 types.
You can verify which packages are installed in Setup by either looking for a green check mark
in the 'list packages' menu option, or use the 'Installed packages' and check the explorer tree on the left.
The object types should appear in the Object Editor (in the explorer on the left) when you click on the
domain nodes ('device', 'system', 'place' or 'person'), and then on the categories under them.
Let me know if this does not work for you....
I upload the screen shot. The first one is the Setup program with the installed packages. I installed almost all packages. The second one is the object editor with no domain node available.
Thank you for your help
Hi Charles:
Thanks for the screen shots. The first one shows me that no user packages are installed. When the server starts, it automatically installs a number of packages that make up the server - those are 'object', 'model', 'app', etc (everything in the tree you show). But these contain no object types, etc.
If you go into Setup and press the "list package" button, a window appears on the left that does *not* have a tree,
but a dropdown with a label above it "Packages". If you click to open the drop-down, you will see all the package
categories (web, device, messaging, etc). Select the 'misc' category, and you should see a list of package names
below the dropdown. If you mouse-click any of those names, a description of the package appears on the right
pane, Try selecting "system domain and objects". Then press the button below the description labelled 'Install"
If successful, a message wil appear on the bottom of the screen, and a green 'check' will appear next to the package name on the left. If there is a problem installing, a message should indicate that.
Could you post the problem message if there is one?
Thanks
Hi Richard
As you can see in screenshot#3, the message after click Install seems to be ok but there is no green check as you mentionned.
Thank you again
Hi Charles:
Thanks for the picture - it tells me that your homerun system cannot find the packages.
(because of the 'No description available'). These packages live on a server at Amazon.
- I want to check their availability. Unfortunately, I am traveling now, so it might take a few days.
I will post a follow-up soon.
Thanks for your patience,
Richard
Hi Charles:
I uploaded some new code that fixed some of the Windows package retrieval errors. On my Windows Xp machine
I can download and install packages (there are still some delays that are too long I'm working on). If you want to try again, and let me know of any problems - I would appreciate it. Note that these changes appear *only* for the binary downloads from
http://homerun.sourceforge.net/get.html
So just delete your previous installation and try again.
Thanks,
Richard
