HomeRun announces a new developer/preview release
providing limited support for Insteon devices.

This should be the final milestone before 0.3 which will
feature a simple web user interface in addition to the
current RMI/Swing one. It improves stability and usability from
previous releases, but note that it is not yet stable
or production-ready.

Changes and new features include:

A new model type - 'value' (in the code called 'Scalar') - has been added.
Value models resemble number (Numeric) models in that they hold a number,
but they are designed to capture measured (physical) quantities.
Therefore, they also contain a unit (type) that qualifies the number (inches, mph, etc).
And since measurement is often imprecise, value models replace the user-defined 'limits'
used in number models with 'ranges'. A range is a minimum and maximum value,

HomeRun has been rewritten as an OSGi application - i.e. a set
of plug-ins that operate in an OSGi framework. In addition to
the powerful life-cycle management facilities OSGi offers, it
is also the de facto standard for remotely manageble home and
other service gateways, so HomeRun can now leverage large

HomeRun is happy to announce its first source code offering. While this release is definitely a preview/developer version of the system - a bit wobbly at the edges (and in parts of the center) - it nonetheless expresses a fairly clear model to be articulated.
