This server will allow the client to:
*check for updates of the client
*upload/download new items catalogs
*check for product recalls

The server also needs to look for recalls, maybe via rss:
http://www.fda.gov/opacom/7alerts.html
http://www.fda.gov/oc/po/firmrecalls/rssRecalls.xml

The server also needs to manage a general catalog.
