For those who checked the CVS it was clear for a long time that a new game will be showing up in holtz sooner or later and here it is! After Zertz, Dvonn and Relax we are proud to announce the addition of Bloks as another nice two player strategy game. The number of players is either 2 or 4 depending on the board size, but you can simply add AI players if you don't have the right number of players. Enjoy!
Holtz-1.2.2 allows to visualize variant trees. This feature is intended for thorough analysis of boards in long-term games like those played via email.
Furthermore some bugs were fixed as mentioned in the ChangeLog. Thanks to opensuse build service RPM packages are now available for other distributions. They will be added to the download page when people start reporting that they actually work. So don't hesitate to report your experiences to windiana@users.sf.net.
Versions 1.2.0 and 1.2.1 were recently released and include a large amount of changes which waited in my code repository for years.
The most important change is that both Zertz and Dvonn can be played with Holtz now. Additionally a higher level of reliability/quality was targeted which lead to a complete redesign of the network protocol. Please report bugs and give feedback to windiana@users.sf.net so the targeted quality can actually be reached.
The Holtz project page is currently being filled with items, and the home page at http://holtz.sourceforge.net/ is now also available.
You can already download the Holtz source-code (note that you need to install wxWindows to compile) and a binary release for Windows; Linux binaries will follow soon.
Enjoy!
