Is there any chance that in the future halflife client lan games will be able to use HLaster to get list of servers via "internet games menu?"
Basically i'm running several large lan parties, after about 15-20 servers running on port 27015 the rest don't show up in lan game browser of client.
Due to the size of lans its better if i can set up something serverside, and not have to get every client to install additional software.
Yes, this is basically possible. But, as far as I know (and I haven't tested it yet) - since the 22.214.171.124 patch, Halflife uses a new protocol - wich i have not implemented yet.
Therefore, the ingame browser (internet games menu) does not currently work with hlmaster.
However, to let your clients retrieve this list from your custom hlmaster, you'd have to change their "woncomm.lst" file - or set up a dns server which maps half-life.east.won.net to one of your ips (and tell them, to use that dns). Both solutions are not that nice...
The dns solution is very easy for us to implement.
well, telling them clients to use it would be the greater deal :D
