What is the plan for these blob functions? From first glance it seems that an HLA blob is a large collection of strings?
Nathan.

Ah, that makes sense. I will give that a try. Thanks.

What works for me on "nasm-users", is to set the list to send me posts
from unsubscribed posters for approval. I forget just where I found the
box to click. At least the "delete" button on the forum is easier to
find - used to be quite unobtrusive. Courage!

Oh, I guess the spammer has hacked Yahoo mail and spoofed an Hla-stdlib-talk address. In that case, I'm wrong about assuming the culprit was one of the new list members. I'll remove the moderation.
Nathan.

Only 12 subscribers and the traffic is _low_ so I've changed this to a moderated list to get rid of the spam.

Now that I've got 'broadband' again, I've done some updating...
Added tarball of v3.1 source to the "View All Files" download page.
Also, as a "snapshot" of current code:
Added tarballs of the source in 'v4.0' and 'trunk' directories to the download page.

The real question is "can we get a version that works for Linux and FreeBSD? (and, ultimately, MacOSX, too). I'd love to have this function in the stdlib, but to date I've not seen a decent version that always works under the *NIX OSes. The moment I see one (and they *can* be written, I just have looked into it yet), this is definitely a routine to add to the stdlib. hLater, Randy Hyde |

Could that be a problem? Or an opportunity?
Well, I don't see a "si_read.hla" in SF's SVN Browse, so it looks like an opportunity to write one. :)

Yeah... or see what GetStdHandle(-10) returns on repeated calls.
"sitting in front of the laboritory" :)
It always gives me the number 8 on Win98 and I get a 3 under WinXP. Even opened multiple consoles and get the same number.
Anyway, I've looked a the included file and see that Randy has provided a macro to grab the handle if it hasn't already been gotten.

Might be... in the form of "Beth's Game". Here's a "simplified" version
- as-is, needs-work! And a C program (since you like C compilers these
days) which does something a little more - kills more "processing" and
checks for control-c. The way he does "check-for-key" doesn't impress
me. Rather than make the handle non-blocking, we can use sys__newselect
for that. There are several interesting points: size of termios is not
what I'm using (!), different tweak for Ubuntu (!), and the different
bits in termios that he tweaks and I leave alone...
Okay, thanks for these. I'm starting to wonder if it would be best to allow a parameter to select the exact behaivour for this 'getc' function? Like, choosing to ignore control-c, for instance. The HLA programmer might appreciate the extra amount of control being exposed.
Nathan.
