No bug report, just a question:
I like to package hex-a-hop for Fedora. The licensing situation is somewhat unclear. The source files are GPLv2 and later, and the media files are CC licensed. But some of them have "nonfree" in their names. Are there any additional restrictions? According to the license conditions, the provided *xml files should be sufficient as info.
The provided XML files list which license the data files are under. The files with nonfree in their names are licensed under the Creative Commons Sampling Plus 1.0 license (details in the XML files), which is incompatible with the the FSF four freedoms, the Open Source definition, the Debian Free Software Guidelines (DFSG) and I guess Fedora's guidelines also. Until these files have been replaced with free versions, I would suggest that you strip these files from the Fedora package.
OK, thanks for the info. I'll remove the *nonfree files after installation so that they don't get into the package.
I would suggest you should strip them from the release tarballs. For the next release they aren't included in the tarball by default, so you could package a snapshot of the latest git.
If you could help find or record some replacement sounds (preferrably CC0 licensed) that would be really cool.
