I won't promise anything but if you have feature wishes for HeSuVi, then feel free to post them here (and try to expound their necessity a bit). Just remember that I can only work within the limits of Equalizer APO.

I thought about that but I don't know why this would be useful. You can just change the balance with the global volume but I don't think there is a reason to increase SL and RR, and decrease SR and RL or something like this. But if you have a sensible use case, tell me.

I even thought about something similar but at a late stage in the development of version 2 and I didn't found it important enough to include. But I will try to come back on this idea and try to implement it.

What do you exactly mean? I know the matrix upmix is disabled for 5.1 because of a potential bug in Equalizer APO and it would need extra steps to circumvent that. But there shouldn't be any other problems or limitations when using 5.1.

With my old Creative X7 I could not use hesuvi without voicemeeter because volumes of the rear channels were always too high and there were also problems with the central channel.
Maybe with the new versions of hesuvi the problem can be circumvented.

Version 2 should already have fixed any 5.1 problems. If you are still having them though, tell me your config and record a 7.1 test sample with Audacity (WASAPI loopback) for me.

I tried hesuvi with my G6 in 5.1 mode and I have the same problems as before with Creative x7: side and rear channels have lower volumes.. to have homogeneous volumes between the various channels I have to make these settings: front & centre at 75%, rear & side at 150%.
Another problem is that the sliders to change the position of the rear channels do not work properly and I always have the back sounds coming from about 8 and 4 o'clock, very close to the side channels.
With g6 in 7.1 everything works perfectly and sounds positions in video games are always excellent.

I think that you would get a worse localization when just moving the signal. But the 5.1 to 7.1 upmix will roughly place the 5.1 surround signal between the side and rear channels which might be prefered in some instances. However, if you want to swap them, you could also just add a custom config inside EqualizerAPO\config:
Please add some more Virtualization for speakers for music mode and movies. if its possible.
beacause sometime you need relax ears cant use headphones.

I really like the Crossfeed option but I wish it supported LFE, same with Stereo Mix. They both just delete the LFE channel entirely when used. I find the Crossfeed option along with a little bit of reverb DSP after it really works a lot better than any of the options in the Virtualization page.
By cutting the LFE channel out it kind of ruins movies though.
Although...I guess I just solved it using: Copy: L=L+-3.0dB*SUB R=R+-3.0dB*SUB
before including hesuvi.txt

It is better to just change your channel layout back to stereo in Windows when using crossfeed and letting your videoplayer move the LFE to L and R. (But I should probably still change the behavior in HeSuVi.)

I don't know what's within the limits of Equalizer APO, but it would be really nice if loudness equalization could be added to HeSuVi because the enhancements tab where windows' loudness equalization is located can't be used while APO Equalizer is installed for the device. This would be very useful for games (where many people likely use this program) so that footsteps could be heard without making gunshots deafening.

HeSuVi is awesome, here's some improvement recommendations:
I find myself changing between HRIR filters frequently, for example, atmos, CMSS-3D game, dolby headphone:X, and ssc_dub.
It would be handy to be able to "add to favorites" these HRIRs and have them in a separate list in the main HeSuVi GUI for quick selection (also enables me to do quick comparison between them).
(I know I can delete all the other HRIRs but that would be a bad workaround since I also use others from time to time).

Hotkey or shortcut keys for switch favorites HRIR when play games (background process).
Maybe switch the LFE or bass between HRIR example take the bass or LFE from Dolby Atmos and put on CMSS and replaced, if possible. Select manual LFE or bass for each HRIR that wil be great.
I request this because IRCAM HRIR´s is too weak in LFE.
Happy New Year.

HeSuVi already features hotkey/shortcut keys to switch between profiles, if you want something more powerful you could use Autohotkey.
LFE is not the same as bass! The Ircam ones do have a weak bass, you could fix that with the equalizer but trying to mix the Atmos bass isn't a good idea.

Must have
You can make one in eq APO but:
-Toggle between Flat and Predefined Target Curves for headphones (B&K 1974 and X-Curves on Sonarworks reference 4)
-Backup restore all settings
-Saving volume speaker, position adjustment for different HRIRs
-on off switch on taskbar (minimized on startup), previously used HRIR with right click, a visual cue to show that it is on or off
-DRY WET knob to tweak headphone curve
Unnecessary but cool
-light dark theme
-Open HRIR folder with right click to rename etc
-HRIR update with community, mirrors, more HRIR's :D
Thank you for making this incredible software that I wanted for a decade! It is close to perfect for me as it is right now.

right. thank you for your quick response and thank you for your great project.
a small request :
to click on the speaker icon to test each channel by itself ( like in microsoft control panel configuration)
I even thought about something similar but at a late stage in the development of version 2 and I didn't found it important enough to include. But I will try to come back on this idea and try to implement it.
thanks
it would be nice to have a version of hesuvi optimized for 5.1 dac

Could you record it for me like I described above? Then I can compare it more precisely.
Btw, the position sliders are only meant for 7.1.

A good feature would be to send the rear signal to the side speakers and vice versa.
Some older blurays or games use the rear outputs as standard for their 5.1 signal. A way to send the rear channel to the side channel would be great.
Sry for my late response.

It is not really possible with Equalizer APO (and I'm not a fan of that feature either) but you can do a trick to achieve something similar: https://sourceforge.net/p/equalizerapo/discussion/general/thread/9f26ef40/

Couldn't you just create different profiles for each of your HRIRs and quickly switch those? ^^
