I have an altered.the macro that shows me all the altered lines. I recently
discovered, with SET MACRO OFF in effect, that there is an ALTERED
command that locates the next altered line. I don't find any documentation
for it.

    The line flag targets like ALTERED, NEW, CHANGED etc were introduced with 3.3RC1 and are documented in the help file; THE_Help.txt.

    It's not clear from the Help that the optional LOCATE word effectively
    turns these new line flag targets into commands that can conflict with
    pre-existing macros.

    Fair enough. Line Targets now start with:
    All line targets can be specified as an argument to the LOCATE command, or
    without the optional LOCATE command.
    +------------------------------
    =====> locate new
    +------------------------------
    is equivalent to:
    +------------------------------
    =====> new
    +------------------------------

    Is this sufficient?

    It's not only 'sufficient', it's outstanding! It really clarifies
    the whole thing. Thanks

    RC4: Confirmed. Both the Help and pdf updated.
