    Still working with IBM's xedit tutorial….

    Is there an "input" mode and zone like xedit?

    I see  "Input " in the help file, but that doesn't appear to be the same thing.

    No, but you can bind SOS ADDLINE to a key of your choice. Also, Mark supplies CODECOMP.THE in the THE/extras folder. It can help input formatted code, such as would be done if you're writting Rexx.

    OK…

    So how does one bind an SOS command to a key? Syntax, etc….

    SOS ADDLINE would do the same thing as the command "INPUT whatever"?

    Not writing Rexx. I plan on using THE to write COBOL code though - if I can ever get the hang of this powerhouse.

    See the DEFINE command, as Mark suggested in your other thread. Here's a handy web page for THE:
    http://www.gut-wirtz.de/THE/rearranged/index.htm
    I use it all the time, even though I have about 20 years experience with Xedit on VM. There are some subtle differences but it was THE and Rexx that allowed me to transition from the mainframe to Windows easily. See "Walk With A Dinosaur" at:

    @vmrexx  Thanks for that first URL. It does shed some light.  BTW, I'm beginning to think that my THE installation is hosed for some reason. I do not have that documentation anywhere, and neither can I find THE.pdf that you folks have been suggesting that I read.

    What I do have is:

    dnormandin@ ~
    08:46 am >> ls /usr/local/bin/nthe
    /usr/local/bin/nthe
    dnormandin@ ~
    08:46 am >> ls /usr/local/share/THE
    THE_Help.txt codecomp.the demo.the     java.tld     nl.the       sh.tld       words.the
    abf.tld      comm.the     demo.txt     js.tld       nsi.tld      spec.tld
    append.the   compile.the  diff.tld     l.the        opl.tld      spell.the
    build.the    config.the   dir.tld      m4.tld       plsql.tld    tags.the
    c.tld        csh.tld      fortran.tld  make.tld     rexx.tld     total.the
    cobol.tld    cua.the      html.tld     match.the    rm.the       uncomm.the

    I think I should uninstall and start over - what do you think? If so, do I simply do a:

    make uninstall

    ??

    I think you're looking in the THE/extras folder. Look in THE/doc for the pdf

    The THE manual is available online at:
    http://hessling-editor.sourceforge.net/doc/index.html
    The PDF is not available as a separate download. It is included in the Windows self-installable package.
    I need to get the manual uploaded.

    @rexx
    Thanks for the URL. I don't have that anywhere in my installation directory, or anywhere on my HD. I originally DLed thesrc33B3.zip. Is that the file I should be building THE from? Did you provide "make uninstall"?

    @vmrexx
    Don't have a THE/extras folder or a THE/docs folder

    dnormandin@ ~
    05:30 pm >> ls /usr/local/share/THE/
