#39 install ignores mandir & datadir

No

The Makefile provided with THE 3.1 has an unused line
"mandir =" in it;
the install section installs man pages directly into
${prefix}/man/man1.
However, recent Red Hats have the man pages in
/usr/share/man
so it would be nice if the Makefile used the mandir
setting instead of the
hardcoded directory (especially since ./configure
--help claims you
can set the mandir).

Similarly, configure has a setting for datadir, but THE
doesn't use
it and instead uses ${prefix}/share. If I'm installing
into my home
directory then I don't necessarily want the directory
to be called
"share" so it would be nice to be able to set this
separately.
