I have recently built a new desktop PC using Win10 Pro 32 bit as the
OS. Naturally, I continued using my preferred email client, the
veritable Eudora 7.1.0.9 and updated it with Hermes Mail dated 2019-02-24.
Since I was using 32 bit I left the default Eudora locations as is,
ie. C:\Program files\Qualcomm\Eudora but just where Windows 10
decided to put the datafiles I did not know until after installation.
It turned out that datafiles were installed to
C:\User\<myusername>\Appdata\Local\Virtual store\Program
files\Qualcomm\Eudora.
Upon scanning through the 2 Qualcomm\Eudora folders in the two
locations above it seems that there is duplication of some files.
Windows does some amazing things which I don't understand... Anyway,
whilst Eudora appears to be running well I wanted to remove files
which are not required in the two Eudora directories so I am seeking
assistance to this end. I have listings of the Eudora directories and
I am hoping that members can assist me in weeding out the files which
contradict the required locations.
Hey Ross,
I haven't yet migrated my Eudora to Win10, but perhaps you might try something I have done for many years that has allowed me to copy and paste Eudora anywhere I needed to use it. In essence, I don't have parts of Eudora split up by windows.
During my installation (one thing I haven't had to do in so many years) I tell Eudora to keep my data and attachments in my Eudora directory. (C:/Eudora/Data and C:/Eudora/Attach) When I back up my mail, it's all there. If I had a crash and lost the drive, after a new Windows install, I drop it back in place. I did have to make sure my deudora.ini file matched (DataFolder=C:\Eudora\Data). I have multiple installs of Eudora, so my shortcuts all had to be modified for the particular install so it would know where things are to be.
I hope this helps.
