In a nutshell, I can't. It doesn't ever seem to connect, rather, just
spins and spins while attempting to "fetch mailbox list" from
imap.mail.me.com. I don't get any of obvious failure/error message. It
eventually times out after a few long minutes.
I am running the "HermesSSL patched" version of Eudora 7.1.0.9 in
current Win10.
I'm sure I have all the server settings correct, but have tried just
about every variable I can think of among them. The iCloud Mail server
settings are well documented online and I am able to connect to the
server using Eudora OSE (Thunderbird) but I'm still craving the genuine
Eudora UI. (In fact, I can even connect to the iCloud mail server on my
vintage Mac, OS 9.2.2, using the Classilla browser email module.)
Any ideas/thoughts on this would be helpful and very much appreciated.
Rather than continuing to puzzle over this, I must consider the
possibility that iCloud Email servers just don't work with this
particular flavor of SSL ... and it seemed that this was the place to
find out if that is indeed the case, or not.

The Hermes update to QCSSL was made to enable SSL connections with Gmail and a few other services. It was never intended or expected to be a cure-all for SSL woes. Perhaps this was not made clear enough when we released the update. Please be assured that we are still working on it and expect to have another update in a while that will fix SSL connections for more email servers.
I think I should also note that Eudora is very weak on distinguishing and diagnosing SSL failures. Hermes should eventually be much improved in this regard but such improvement is something that cannot be done at present as it involves making changes to components that we are currently unable to rebuild.

Thank you Pete. I thought it was clear enough that it was not a panacea. However, I still had to consider the possibility that it DID indeed work with iCloud Mail and there was something right under my nose that I was overlooking. In any case, thank you for your continued work on it!
