This project has no apparent leadership, little discussion, no
coordination, negligible achievement and no clearly documented goal.
Furthermore, I am the only person who has committed any code in the last
six weeks and it seems that there are only two of us left, Soren and I,
with any interest in it. For several reasons I am not willing to take over
leadership and I am therefore giving up, at least for the moment. If it
happens that the project is brought to life again at any time, I may be
willing to return to work on it.

I'm troubled by this post. I don't see any plans or team documentation, so I'm wondering how the team communicates goals, sets priorities, and so on ... what's the development process here?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
As mentioned, I previously used eMail rather than thinking to use the Sourceforge discussion boards. This meant that certain people were accidentally excluded from planning, etc.; the Org file which is essentially a complete project plan, including who's responsible for what, plus justifications, etc, is now in Downloads.

Again. I'd suggest someone creates an official IRC channel on FREENODE for
the project. Mail and forum communication is just not the same as an actual
dedicated chat channel .

Which conversation? The "as mentioned" bit? That was a reference to a private eMail conversation I was having with Pete. He was the one that put QCSSL together (he's still on the project, by the way—we seem to have worked out many of our differences).
Søren has already put in a request to open a Freenode IRC channel, and we'll use that and the message boards. He also, if I'm not mistaken, sent you a message that he'd like to coöperate with you on MFC.
As for me, I'll try to put in some work on the spell checker.
The link below is my "brain dump" for this project: it's a combination of outline, roadmap, tasks done, and tasks to do, with justifications and reasoning sprinkled throughout. It's editable by everyone and shows your edits in different colours. If you're unable to collaborate by eMail, why not read this at the very least, see how we've allocated work, and at least see if one or more of the tasks strikes your fancy?
Well, I'm sorry you feel that way :( I would really like to see this project get off the ground; I have been working behind the scenes but got bogged down in other work meanwhile. I'm back and working both on this project and on "hermesancil" (ancillary files, including i18n and help)

Do I still have commit permissions?

I might simply rewrite the program, and see how much I can do without.
In principle I just need read access so I can create a new one.

And FYII: The reason I haven't done any commits is because of problems with
mercurial. It will solve itself suddenly.

Hello!
I'm here after replying to a solicitation on Reddit for C++ developers. I have a ton of MFC experience, and can probably help out.

Sorry to make you repeat yourself, but I just don't see that conversation.
I'm afraid I won't be able to effectively contribute to this project, but thank you for your consideration.

I, also, made commits and could not work on the project for a time. Not
sure when I will be back. Summer is over now. May have more time for this.
